Privacy Policy

Last updated: 18 March 2026

1. Introduction

Uncloud (“we”, “us”, “our”) is the data controller for any personal data processed through the Uncloud mobile application (“the App”).

This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data in compliance with applicable data protection laws, including the UK GDPR, EU GDPR, and other local regulations. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices.

2. Data We Collect

When you use the App, the following data is created and stored locally on your device:

  • Quit plan data — device type, nicotine strength, estimated daily puffs, daily spend, quit date, and chosen quit method.
  • Daily check-ins — mood rating, craving level, and whether you vaped that day.
  • Craving logs — craving intensity, triggers, and coping strategies used.
  • Journal entries — free-form text with optional mood and topic tags.
  • Slip/relapse logs — timestamp, optional trigger, puff count, and notes.
  • App preferences — theme setting, notification preferences, quit reasons.

3. Special Category Data

Some of the data you enter (such as mood ratings and health-related journal entries) may constitute special category or sensitive data under applicable data protection laws. The lawful basis for processing this data is your explicit consent — you voluntarily choose to enter this information into the App.

4. Data We Do NOT Collect

Uncloud is designed with privacy at its core. We do not collect:

  • Your name, email address, phone number, or any personal identifiers.
  • Account or login credentials (the App has no user accounts).
  • Analytics, usage tracking, or behavioural data.
  • Advertising identifiers or marketing data.
  • Location data.

We have no servers that receive, store, or process your personal data. The App functions entirely offline.

5. How Data Is Stored

All data is stored locally on your device using MMKV, an encrypted key-value storage system. Your data never leaves your device unless you explicitly choose to:

  • Export a backup — creates a JSON file saved to your device’s file system.
  • Export a PDF report — generates a document on your device for sharing with a healthcare provider.
  • Enable iCloud sync (iOS only) — uses Apple’s iCloud infrastructure. Apple’s privacy policy governs data stored in iCloud.

6. Lawful Basis for Processing

Under applicable data protection laws, we rely on the following lawful bases:

  • Consent — you voluntarily enter data into the App and can delete it at any time.
  • Legitimate interests — processing is necessary to provide the App’s core functionality (tracking, reminders, progress calculations).
  • Explicit consent for sensitive data — for health-related and mood data.

7. Third-Party Data Processors

The App uses the following third-party services:

  • RevenueCat — processes in-app purchase transactions. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user ID and your purchase receipt. They do not receive any of your health data or personal information entered into the App. RevenueCat’s privacy policy is available at revenuecat.com/privacy.
  • Apple / Google — the respective app store distributes the App and processes payments. Their privacy policies apply to those transactions.

8. International Data Transfers

RevenueCat is based in the United States. Any data they process (anonymous user IDs and purchase receipts) may be transferred to and processed in the US. These transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards including Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs).

If you enable iCloud sync, your data may be stored in Apple data centres outside your country, subject to Apple’s data transfer mechanisms.

9. Data Retention

Since all data is stored locally on your device, it persists for as long as you keep the App installed and do not clear its data. Uncloud has no server-side copies of your data.

You can delete all your data at any time by using the “Reset App” feature in Settings, or by uninstalling the App.

10. Your Rights

Under applicable data protection laws, you may have the following rights:

  • Right of access — all your data is visible within the App at all times.
  • Right to rectification — you can edit your quit plan, check-ins, and journal entries directly in the App.
  • Right to erasure — use “Reset App” to delete all data, or uninstall the App.
  • Right to data portability — use the backup export feature to download your data as a JSON file.
  • Right to restrict processing — you can stop using any feature at any time.
  • Right to object — as data processing is based on consent, you can withdraw consent by ceasing to use the App.

Since all data is stored locally, you exercise these rights directly through the App without needing to contact us.

You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

11. Children’s Privacy

The App is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly process data from children.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will be revised accordingly. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
